This is a very interesting mouse. The onboard memory is probably the best part about it. The manuals and help doesn’t do a great job of explaining it through. It basically works like this, you can store up to 5 different profiles on the mouse, with there own DPI sensitivity settings (even multiple stages of DPI controlled by buttons) and button mapping settings and macros. Mac users get slightly screwed, I’m dual booting on a Macbook with XP and OSX, and only in Windows can you set up the profiles and move between them with the “Configurator” program. However, it is possible to allow the buttons on the mouse to change to a different profile at any time, without using the Windows program. So even though I can’t set profiles from the Mac OS on my computer, I can use the profiles I set on the PC side, but I can’t easily change between profiles on the Mac OS.

Using Bluetooth still uses whatever setting your current profile has, just like wired mode, except the polling rate drops to the lowest setting and the DPI can’t go beyond 2000. Your profiles and button mapping all stay, on Bluetooth, wired, on any computer. I think that is very very nice. Unfortunately, the mouse doesn’t provide any feedback on what profile your on, although you can probably figure it out by investigating DPI and button mapping settings when using the mouse. Right now, I’m in Mac OSX, using a Bluetooth connection, with a profile I set up while the mouse was connected by USB to the computer while I was in Windows XP. You can only edit the mouse’s profiles while using the Windows-only Configurator program and only while connected by USB. The mouse is powered by USB when it is connected by USB, which is great in case your batteries die. One important note, the Configurator program seems to have a problem sometimes. Whenever you create a new profile or change a profiles name, make sure to hit “Apply” to save that profile to the mouse before you start setting up its settings, otherwise the mouse kind of messes up and treats that profile as having just default settings.

Overrall I’m very impressed with the mouse, especially with the fact that I can use it on any computer, with the USB cord or Bluetooth, and it will keep my settings. The options in the Configurator program for setting up profiles were pretty extensive, macros, can assign a button to switch to a profile on the mouse, can assign a keyboard key to a button on the mouse, and can move between different levels of DPI sensitivity. I was afraid the mouse would be a bit too small for me, but even though it’s smaller than my other mouse, it’s still comfortable. It comes with a traveling case and a nice braided USB cord.

I had been wanting a wireless mouse for while since I was getting very tired of the “almost long enough but not quite” mouse cord forcing me to mouse in a less than comfortable distance from my desk. I had to sit up real close to my desk (actually an old kitchen table) and could not lean back in my chair while using my old mouse.

I bought the Verbatim Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse though I am using it with my desktop computer. It is great! It’s a bit smaller than my other mouse but that’s fine - takes up that much less space on my table top. It’s heavy and slides around very nicely. The left and right click buttons “click” distinctly and I can let my fingers rest on the click buttons and it doesn’t accidentally click as did my former mouse. The battery case is easy to open but stays firmly shut and only takes 2 AA batteries.

I use Windows XP and the program was incredibly fast and easy to load. The antenna stick went into an open USB port in the back of the computer. The mouse immediately started working and is everything I could have hoped for. If the PC is idle for a while the mouse shuts down but a click awakens it immediately with no lag time. I suppose that’s a battery saving feature.

I have nothing to complain about. It feels to be well made and I like it’s design. The turnwheel works very smoothly with just a bit of notched feel as it goes around. This mouse gets the job done and I can easily relax in my desk chair and mouse in a very comfortable/relaxed position since that blasted mouse cord is gone! It was always getting tangled up in the mess on my desk and sometimes interfered with my printer paper coming out unencumbered. Great mouse!

Fits my 14.1″ HP Pavilion widescreen laptop snugly. Seems well made and durable. Seems just as high quality as any other laptop sleeve that I’ve seen, but it is a much better price.

Apple MacBook Pro MC118LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop Feature

This is my second laptop from apple and I love it.

To be clear, I have the 2.66 15 inch model with an ANTI-Glare screen.

Case and Keyboard-

Pros: Apple really did a great job designing this laptop. The black keys are beautiful and match the rest of the laptop. The case looks and even feels great. The Anti glare screen is the same color as the rest of the laptop (Aluminum) but there is a beautiful black trim around it. When closing the laptop magnets keep the screen firmly closed, a really nice touch.

Cons: The only really con I can think of is the placement of the USB and Firewire ports. They are all on the same side which becomes very cluttered when having multiple connections. Personally, I constantly have every port used so this is somewhat of a problem. The positives definitely outweigh this small negative.

Anti Glare Screen-

Pros: Does it’s job, no reflection and still works great.

Cons: Nothing, its only for the upgrade, do it.

Performance-

Pros: I am a video editor and this thing flies whether you are using final cut pro or avid.

Cons: None

Trackpad-

Pros: This trackpad is really fun. Apple really has the best technology when it comes touch surfaces. Expose feature works great and the pad is fully customizable with 3rd party software.

Cons: Sure, its great that you can push down anywhere on the pad, but it takes some effort to do this.

Operating System-

Pros: Most agree that Mac OsX is the strongest operating system out there. But if you prefer to use both, bootcamp works FLAWLESSLY. (other than having your typical windows problems)

Cons: This is obviously a very subjective area. Some might say the lack of program integration is a negative, but bootcamp solves that. Some might say apple doesn’t many programs, but search the web for a couple minutes and you’ll find otherwise. So I can honestly say the OS has no significant cons.

Customer Service-

Pros: Apple has the best customer service in the world. As long as you are nice to them they will take care of you. I would highly recommend the 3 year warranty because like anything, things break.

Cons: Very expensive to have things fixed (by apple) without the warranty. You wouldn’t drive a car without insurance, just buy the warranty.

Overall: Incredible laptop, incredible performance, you will not be disappointed.

Environmental Considerations
Apple has worked hard to eliminate many of the toxins that are a common part of computer manufacturing. Apple engineers removed the majority of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Pro.

Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software for the MacBook, they’re designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less electricity. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down automatically when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor–CPU or GPU–is best suited to efficiently perform a task. The LED-backlit display in the MacBook Pro is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than conventional LCD displays. And the display is designed to dim when you enter a darkened room.

The MacBook Pro meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it ENERGY STAR certification. MacBook also meets the latest efficiency requirements of ENERGY STAR Version 5.0 Specification for Computers before its July 2009 effective date.

The MacBook Pro has also earned the highest rating of EPEAT Gold. The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, or EPEAT, evaluates the environmental impact of a product based on how recyclable it is, how much energy it uses, and how it’s designed and manufactured.
