I bought the Acer Aspire AS7551-2531 as a gift to someone I know. But before I gave the computer to this very lucky person, I was testing it to see how good it really was. First off, Acer did something really nice with the packaging and the feeling I got from just opening it and observing the product was amazing. I won’t spoil those details and will leave you to see for yourselves if you buy it.
Now onto the real specs of this affordable powerhouse. The memory of the laptop is very high speed and gave me a 7.5 on the Windows Experience Index (WEI). The processor is also very fast as it is the second generation dual core of the Athlon family, the Athlon II. The integrated ATI Radeon 4250 performs very well for its intended uses, which is more on the lines of video instead of gaming. But that did not stop me from trying it out on some of my games . I actually managed to play Street Fighter IV on this notebook (DVD I purchase when it first came out) with settings between mid to high at 1280×720. This was accomplished by downloading and installing the AMD Dual Core Optimizer (DCO) from AMD’s support website. So with that I say that gaming wise, this laptop can have secondary or tertiary uses in light gaming, with the only exception of Street Fighter IV, which are games that do not require the beefy, monsters that are the desktop graphics cards on desktops. The sound quality on this laptop is also good. The only drawbacks I think of is the fact that the notebook has no Blu-ray drive built in, but perhaps this is a good thing considering the power of Radeon HD 4250. Also, it only comes with about 3 or 4 USB 2.0 ports, not the 3.0 standard, and no express card slot. In addition, The laptop has only 3.0 hours battery life. Besides those flaws, This laptop also has a very vivid and colorful picture via the jumbo 17.3 in widescreen display with enhanced Acer display technology. Hard drive size is also adequate.
My final thought on this purchase is that this notebook is a great buy considering the price and it feels and looks like a professional product. If you want some portable gaming power, I would suggest that you look to spend in the 0.00 - 00.00 range. Nonetheless, you won’t be disappointed in buying this laptop if you are an everyday casual and some what demanding user.

I purchased this laptop December of 2009. I went from a 4 year old 15.6 inch screen HP laptop to this Acer and I had my doubts, especially about performance and screen size but I felt I needed something a bit more portable for my college classes. Despite my concerns, I was not disappointed and extremely glad that I didn’t buy another 00 laptop.

- Screen is vivid, bright and incredibly sharp so the size really was not an issue as I thought it would be.

- Despite comments about not being able to differentiate the touch pad well from the rest of the computer, it really was not an issue and the touch pad is great with the multi gesture zooming and such.

- I’m able to run videos off of Fancast, Hulu, Youtube and Netflix perfectly, even the HD stuff. I often connect the laptop to my TV through the HDMI port and play movies on my TV without a problem. If you have a problem doing any of this, it might be the internet more so than the laptop. We have FIOS in our house.

-I got the free upgrade and Windows 7 makes all the difference. I absolutely hated Vista. So far, the computer has not froze on me or done anything weird.

-The chiclet style keyboard takes just a tiny bit of getting used to but after getting used to it, I absolutely loved it and now I can’t type properly on my boyfriends laptop which has the “normal” keys that laptops usually come with.

-The laptop keeps relatively cool and I don’t find myself needing a cooling pad very often.

-Multi tasking between a whole lot of office applications, surfing the web and listening to online music doesn’t seem to slow the computer down much.

- The only con I can think of is that sometimes you are not able to adjust the screen brightness or the volume using the keyboard but you can still do it on the computer. A restart always fixes this little problem.

All in all, a great investment at about 0

Well, i had a Toshiba Mini NB205 that was an excellent netbook, very portable, resistent and had a beautiful appearance, I really liked this computer the internet and word worked razoably nice in this PC, but sometimes the internet conexion was a little too slow for me, and another sites, like […] and […] - that are very heavy sites, were extremly slow to download and that irritated me a lot. So, I decided to change for a new netbook, and when I discover this ACER ASPIRE 1830T with the new intel core i3 inside I got crazy. And now I am really happy with this little PC!!!
Pros: the 11.6 inch lcd screen is a lot better than the 10.1 inch ones, it makes lot more easier to see the internet or work with the Office. Using for long periods the 10.1 inch screen is very tiring for the eyes, and the 11.6 is the perfect size for a ultraportable notebook.
The computer is very fast, you can see any page in the internet with no problem. And the Windons 7 64 bits works like a breeze, it’s sensational.
The built quality is very good, it really is a superior computer very beautiful and resistent.
The keyboard is very good, the letters have a really nice size and you can type on this for hours and hours. I really loved the full size left SHIFT button, what is extremelly annoing in others netbooks. The keyboard don’t have problem of flex, maybe just a little bit but that’s will not be notice or be a problem when typing. The Toshiba Mini NB205, that is one of the best netbook in the market has a lot more flex than this one that almost don’t have flex at all.
The duration of battery is fantastic and even more for a i3 processor. I thought that just the processors n450 could have the capacity of lasting so much. Fortunatly I was wrong, and I discover that this machine can last longer than 6 hours of solid internet conexion.
The computer is very very thin, and light, and the best thing is that the battery don’t come out of the machine, it just stay where it should be, with any part out from behind or down the netbook like the N205 da toshiba.
Cons: it could come with a minimum of 128 MB of dedicated Video Ram, But that’s not a big deal because I will not play games in this little computer.
Another problem is that this don’t come with 4 GB of RAM, it could be included because this computer is expensive, but the 3 GB works more than perferctly for me.
Well, finally I highly recommend this computer for ANYBODY, who wants portability, fast internet conexion, and long battery life.

I bought this case for my Acer Aspire 8.9, because I didn’t want the sleeve style case, and, honestly, couldn’t find anything else that fit it. That was months ago, and I have come to love this case.

The computer sits very comfortably inside, with some extra room to zip the case closed over my wireless mouse jack. The pocket isn’t very big, I’ll conceed, but a small mouse, thumb drive, and extra memory card all fit nicely, so I’m happy. The memory foam padding is more than enough to protect it when I toss it into larger bag, which I do most of the time. I don’t know how well it would do in a drop test, but hopfully I’ll never find out. (If you plan to drag your computer behind your car every day on the way to work, I’d consider something else.) I know some people wished for a shoulder strap, but I can’t imagine wanting to carry my tiny little computer over my shoulder.

When i first ordered this netbook I didn’t realize how small it was going to be. Then I got it and going from a 17.6 in laptop to a 10.1 in netbook was quite a shocker. I saw that I had 30 days for a return so I thought I would just try it. It took me a little while to get use to the smaller keyboard and I had made mention to my mother in law that I would give it to her once I got a bit of a bigger one. Well after a few weeks I really got attached! I LOVE how light it is. I LOVE how small it is to carry (i just throw it in my purse when i go to the library to study or to the laundry mat). I had kaspersky 2010 antivirus on it…but a 1 gb ram…then my netbook started to slow down HORRIBLY! I was so frustrated with it, but then I upgraded the ram to 2 gb. Still slow…I uninstalled K2010…downloaded windows FREE antivirus and use google chrome as my browser and now my netbook is the fastest thing ever. I am soooooo happy and in love with it I ordered my mother in law the same one, but white. This is perfect for someone who just needs internet and a typing program. I talked my mom into getting the 11.6 in one in red. She loves it too!

Only con for me (amd my mom and mother in law) was all the games it had preinstalled. But revo uninstaller saved me from the clutter. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS for the work traveler or any student!

Acer Aspire One AOD250-1706 10.1-Inch Red Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life Review

I love my Acer Netbook. Added a 2GB SODimm 667 MHz Memory chip from Crucial. Keyboard and screen are absolutely fine for work away from the office. Close to 8 hour battery life on the 6 cell unit. WIFI reception is excellent. This unit also has bluetooth so that I can use my telephone headset while make Skype calls. Loaded Openoffice 3.1 on netbook and all modules function well. Reviewers have complained about the speakers on netbooks. You need to use headphones .. and the stereo sound is awesome. The red color of the netbook does pick up fingerprints; however, the fingerprints are far less noticeable than either the black or blue model.

Two minor minuses: (1) 6 cell battery extends past back of the netbook so it is may not fit most 10 inch netbook sleeves. (2) the 6 cell battery adds weight to the netbook; but not enough to concern me — my other laptop is a Dell Inspiron XPS (15″ screen) weights close to 3 times the weight once you include the charger.

All considered I rate this netbook a 5+.

I love how small the netbook is, the only problem is that the screen is pretty small so it’s not a good idea to read anything long on your netbook. Also it would have been nice if it came with miscrosoft works of any year instead of a 60 day trial. It does work fast and is great for carrying around on campus. All in all it’s about a 4 out of 5.
